Sill or swedish herring is a staple part of the swedish diet whether on its own accompanied by homemade bread or as part of a smorgasbord.
There are so many kinds of sill you can make - the secret is to combine the herring with other flavours including mustard, lingon, onion, cloves and much more. A smorgasbord may have as many as 25 flavors of sill.
