More new antique biedermeier furniture finds
Continuing our review of the antique Swedish biedermeier furniture we have coming over to Swedish Interior Design at the end of May.
This time we focus on antique biedermeier dropleaf tables.
I love the classic design of these tables. They tend to be about 90cm wide and then extend to around 130cm with the leaves up. They usually have a central column on a plinth with 4 feet and are made of birch overlaid with a flame golden birch veneer or more rarely elm. The way the golden birch flames swirl around the central column is just gorgeous. On some tables you also have ormulu detailing on the central post, table edge or feet.
The drop leaves are supported by 2″ wooden posts that pull out of the central table body and are very sturdy.
The dropleaf tables are great for hallways or occasional tables but you can also use them as a desk for your laptop, a writing desk or even as a small dining table and because of the superb level of finishing they look amazing.
The light honey colour french polished finish means they fit very well into a variety of modern and traditional design schemes making them and extremely versatile purchase and we can always repolish them to a slightly different colour tone if you have a specific colour in mind
