The beauty of swedish biedermeier antique carver chairs – what makes them so good?
Swedish Biedermeier carver chairs have a style and impact all their own.
Their unusual shape which is both architectural on the one hand and artistic on the other means they can fit into almost any type of interior design environment.
See our Antique Carver Chairs hereThey generally feature borch frames which are usually very sturdy and lovely sabre style curved front legs with an elegant swoop to them.
The classic backrest shape is the napoleon hat curved one with the 2 rounded ears at the side and there is usually a decorative cross bar to support the seat uprights.
Biedermeier carver chairs are veneered on top of the birch construction with either flame mahogany veneer or more often flame or quilted golden birch with fabulous figuring.
They are meant to be both extremely decorative and very eye catching.
Antique Biedermeier carver chairs are french polished to a high lustre – the golden birch veneers tend to be the classic sought after honey colour finish or a rich mid oak while the mahogany veneer Biedermeier chairs are usually a darker rich mahogany colour with a tinge of red to them.
We of course freshly french polish them for you prior to shipping to a high lustre and to remove any scratches or marks from wear and tear.
The rare type of Antique Biedermeier carver chairs feature square backs again with extreme decorative centre posts – this can be urns or roundels or other shapes.
The seats are always a horsehair pad supported by a webbed base and when we reupholster them for you, we can top stuff the seats for added comfort to make the seat top into a lovely curve.
In terms of reupholstery, your choice of fabric dictates how the carver chairs will feel. Modern fabrics make them very cool and modern looking while a classic fabric gives them a splendid traditional vibe.
