Antique Swedish Gustavian & Biedermeier Carver Chairs

Carver chairs have a refined elegance that is hard to match and yet are also very comfortable too - design and useability in one. The Biefdermeier carver chairs we stock have the lovely curved lines to their arms and back that create  a wonderful visual appeal ewhile also being really comfortable due to their fully webbed and stuffed seats.

These antique carver chairs are richly decorated with delicate carvings, original paint or stunning golden birch wood veneers and are usually fully sprung and webbed for maximum comfort with original horsehair or natural fibre upholstery.

They are great to sit in. Gustavian carver chairs tend to be more feminine and with a lighter feel to their construction with lots of carved detail while Biedermeier carver chairs are less ornate and more masculine in appearance.

Art deco carvers on the other hand have a more modern appearance and go very well in modern design situations.

Thoughts on antique carver chairs

While tastes change and fashions revolve, there are some constants in the design universe that never look out of place. Carver chairs especially the antique swedish biedermeier and gustavian carver chairs have etched themselves a special place in the design firmament due to their simplicity of design and elegant construction. They are as comfortable to sit in as they are good to look at and so you can use them purely as decorative antiques or for everyday sitting with super comfy fully webbed seats and a great sitting position. for prices and further information
