X MC59 Oak Stain SOLD

This is an extremely rare and unusual early 1800s swedish mora longcase clock finished in a mid oak natural polished stain. It has the original convex bowed glass in the mora clock hood and its great to see all the old imperfections and bubbles in the original glass that gives it so much character. Original glass also features in the pendulum window of this beautiful antique mora clock and it features a wide extended belly reminiscent of the pagan fertility goddess that makes swedish mora clocks so unique. There is stunning ormulu detailing on the round hood and in the crenellated moulding under the belly and it has a very pleasing lower section that gives the mora clock a perfect visual balance. The face is beautiful with faded original paint and well defined handpainted numerals with the seconds also nicely delineated. This mora clock has the original mechanism weights and pendulum and can be bought, as is, fitted with an electric mechanism or with the original mechanism cleaned , repaired and swing tested. Its very unusual to find a mora clock in this natural wood finish and this is a fantastic example of the genre which would fit beautifully into both traditional and modern environments.
